Initial Setup

Overview

Engage allows you to bring content to your users based on a number of qualifiers, including segment, page, context and other types of triggers. As with other Algonomy products, working closely with your Algonomy team will set up for success. Algonomy Engage allows retailers to include banners and other graphic content in placements on their site as a promotion tool.

Engage requires you to work with your Algonomy support team and a working knowledge of the instrumentation of the site.

Similar to how Recommend uses placements and layouts to return recommendations, Engage uses placements and layouts to deliver promotional material on retailers sites.

Setting Up Engage

Coordinate with your Algonomy Team

Your Algonomy team needs to enable Engage for your site and to make sure the right people on your team have access to the dashboard pages that they will need to set your site up. Your Algonomy contact will need email addresses for:

  • Team members responsible to create promotions.
  • Team members responsible for approving which promotions appear on your site. (This might be the same people who set up promotions--if so, just let us know.)
  • The technical team, who will be responsible for changing integration code on your site.

Note: The User Profile Service must be enabled on your site in order to allow Engage to work. For more information about User Profile Service, see User Profile Service guide.

Add Content

Engage content can be anything you want to deliver to your site: banners, video, HTML. Refer to Adding Content for details.

  1. Create a layout: This is your promotion HTML and image content template, which determines the markup for the promotion.

  2. Create a placement: This determines where the promotion will appear on the page. The placement you set up in the dashboard must correspond to a placement instrumented on your site.
