Set Up Custom Compatibility Mapping
This page provides instructions to set up and utilize custom compatibility mapping for use with Advanced Merchandising. Custom compatibility mapping allows a client to utilize their own compatibility mapping within Advanced Merchandising to match compatible products and product attributes.
This page is intended for the clients and consultants setting up a site's Advanced Merchandising.
Setting up Custom Compatibility Mapping
To set up custom compatibility mapping:
-
Pass custom compatibility list in the catalog feed. Since compatibility is a special attribute, it should be prefixed by "MCMP.". e.g. - MCMP.accessories. Here, accessories will be the name of compatibility that will show up in the drop down at the time of the rule creation.
-
On the Omnichannel Personalization dashboard, go to Recommendations > Advanced Merchandising > Add Rule.
- Set up your Advanced Merchandising rule as you normally would, giving the rule a name, Importance, and date range as well as whether it should be enabled in production.
-
Select the placements you want the rule to apply to.
-
Select Compatible exists Accessories as context. Apply the other contexts you are looking to build the rule around
-
Under "Recommended Items", choose number of recommended items you want this rule to display
-
Select Compatible is Accessories
-
Use Case: I want to build a rule around the product with external id = 778558:
-
Set in context as Compatible exists Accessories AND Product is Brother HL3140CW Color Laser, Wifi/USB, 64MB, 18 ppm, 250 sheets (778558)
-
Then, under the 'Recommended Items' (below 'Context'), choose number of recommended items (here I chose 8).
-
Select: Compatible is Accessories.
-
Results: 4 (four) products are shown as recommended products. This is the total list of compatible products for the given product in context.
This will result in returning the products that are compatible to your context.
