Image Map Creative Design Requirements
Overview
Emails using Recommend must conform to certain design standards to ensure proper display and functionality. It is critical that you are aware of these prior to creating your email creative.
Note: This method is no longer used for new accounts. See How-To: Setup Responsive Layout Email Solution for current method.
Carry the benefits of your Recommend implementation out of your site and into your transactional and promotional emails when you utilize Recommend in Email. Ensure the best responses by following design standards to properly display Recommendations. If the design standards are not followed, the expected Recommendations may not render properly and they may not be fully functional. When setting up the email campaign, users define recommendation zones, where the placement goes, within the email template.
Recommendation Zones
Recommendation Zones are the zones in the template, where the Recommendations are rendered. There should be one rectangular image block with a solid background color. Each recommendation zone corresponds to a single placement and email campaign. Only one placement is allowed per email. If a design element is included in the Recommend HTML code, it should not overlap the recommendation zone.
URLs
Algonomy requires a URL for any image included in the recommendation zone that is not delivered as a part of the recommendation data. For example, a "shop now" call-to-action button under each product. Identification parameters should be included in the image request URL and the image map links.
