Create a Conditional Search Placement
This section includes step by step instructions for creating a conditional search placement for use when a shopper enters a retailer's site via a search engine. This placement works to reduce bounce, when the item on the page is not exactly what the shopper is looking for.
To create a new Conditional placement:
-
On the Omnichannel PersonalizationDashboard page, go to Site Configuration > Conditional Placements.
-
On the list page for Conditional Placements, click +Add Rule.
-
On the Add Placement Rule page, select options to set up your placement rule from the dropdown lists.
-
Referring Source: Where is the shopper coming from? There are four options:
-
Unknown: This runs when the referrer is unknown or does not exist.
-
Same Site: This will run when the referrer is from the same domain as the page the shopper is on.
-
Other Site: This will run when the referrer is from a different domain than the page that the shopper is on.
-
Search Engine: This runs when the referrer is one of the search engines that Algonomy checks for.
-
-
Page Type: What page type do you want this placement to appear on when the shopper enters the site via the referrer? The dropdown list will include available page types.
-
Priority: This is either first or last, and it determines where on the page the placement will be placed. First indicates that the placement will be injected at the top of the page, while Last indicates that it should be injected at the end of the page.
-
When done, click Add.
