Sales Report

The Sales report on the dashboard shows recommendation impact across several key metrics to measure the performance of Recommend. It presents a graph displaying performance data for a selected metric (defaulted to "Attributable Sales") and raw data across all metrics in tabular form.

To view the Sales Report, on the Omnichannel Personalization dashboard, go to Reports > Sales.

Metrics

Users can also choose between several metrics. Changing the chosen metric will immediately refresh the chart and table.

The following metrics are tracked on the Sales By Channel Report:

  • Attributable Sales: The sales resulted from the recommended products that must have been clicked within the Algonomy placement to count (Rec clicks).

  • Avg. order size from recs: Average order values from recs.

  • Clicks on recs: Clicks on products in recommendation placements.

  • Items from recs: Units sold through recommendations. If a single SKU was sold multiple times, each unit sold contributes to this quantity. These products must have been clicked on within the Algonomy placement to count.

  • Orders from recs: Orders that contain at least one recommended item.

  • Overall avg. order size: Overall sales divided by overall orders.

  • Overall conversion rate: Number of visits with purchases divided by overall visits.

  • Overall items: Product units sold sitewide.
  • Overall orders: Distinct count of order numbers captured through the Purchase Complete page.

  • Overall Revenue Per Visit: Overall sales divided by visits.

  • Overall sales: Total sitewide sales.

  • Overall units per order: Total units purchased divided by overall orders.

  • Overall Visits: Unique customer visits that are identified by the retailer and passed to Algonomy through the JavaScript instrumentation or an API call.

  • Page rec clickthru rate: Clicks on recs as a percentage of page views. For example, a page contains two placements. Three customers viewed that page. Customer 1 did not click on any placement. Customer 2 clicked on the top placement. Customer 3 clicked on the bottom placement. The rec clickthrough rate is 2/3, or 66.67%.

  • Page views: Rendered pages containing Algonomy recommendations. One page view can contain multiple placement views. If a visitor views a page that is instrumented, but no placements appear, this does not count as a page view.

  • Personalized Conversion Rate: Number of visits with purchases divided by personalized visits.

  • Personalized Revenue Per Visit: Overall sales divided by personalized visits.

  • Personalized Visits: Unique customer visits that are identified by a rec view (a view in the visit that has a rec placement present), rec click (there is a rec click in the visit), or a purchase (a purchase is present in the visit).

  • Rec sales %: Sales from recs as a percentage of overall sales.

  • Units per order from recs: Average quantity of units sold in orders containing at least one recommended item. It counts both attributable and non-attributable products in the order.

Report Type

The data type that shows on the report can be manipulated from the Report Type menu. Click on the arrow to the right of Report Type to open the menu. The default is set to raw.

Region

The Region filter allows you to look at specific region.

Currency

On sites that use more than one currency, the user can choose to see the data associated with that currency.

Table

Sales Table - Raw is displayed with raw data across all metrics in a tabular form.

User can download the report in the CSV, XLSX, and PDF formats.

Example Use Cases

You can:

  • Compare the average values of orders containing a recommended item (on which the customer clicked) versus overall orders.

  • View sales from recommendations by department to understand the departments in which recommendations are most impactful.

  • Compare overall sales and overall order counts with their internal analytics to verify the existence of instrumentation errors or issues that inhibit data capture during listening.

Setup

Your site must be instrumented correctly to generate data in the sales reports. If there is a history of live recommendations on the site, all the data is displayed in the sales report table. If not (For example, site is in listening mode and not displaying recommendations), only non-recommendation data displays sessions, overall sales, overall orders, and so on.
